My bridal shower happened last month, but I only just had time (and energy) to go through all the photos. And, beyond my Canon, I’m pretty sure there are more photos floating around cell phones and other cameras that I’d like to get my hands on.
The shower was thrown by my maid of honor (pictured below, graciously pouring drinks for everyone) at her farmhouse in northern Wisconsin (my hometown). First off, her house is over 100 years old and amazing. Secondly, it’s scattered with her hand-painted artwork. I will FO SHO interview her one day because you have to see these paintings–they are ungodly good.
I’m not what you’d call a typical bride. Not that I’m doing a Halloween-themed or neon colored wedding, but that I’ve never been a wedding person. I appreciate weddings. I love attending weddings (I have been known to cry during the ceremony). But when it comes to the traditions and the details and the other stuff, I’m in the dark. Or, nonchalant about the whole affair. Luckily, my maid of honor is the shit and threw a bridal bash just like me–rustic and crafty, with lots of flowers. Seriously love her.
I only want to show a few photos of friends and family, since I don’t know how my immediate family feels about being featured on this blog (shout if you don’t care!). But they all, honest to God, made my life by attending this event for me.
(THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED!)
Highlights of the day for me (other than feeling EXTREMELY loved by my closest family and friends):
+Cupcake apron signed by everyone with well wishes
+Flowers in flower pots scattered throughout, that guests could take home
+Cake that my mom had made for me
+Design your own cupcake (not pictured) where there were different frostings and different flavored cupcakes, that you could frost and mix and match how you wanted
+All the gifts (how could I not love or mention them!?)
+The food in general–apart from the cake and cupcakes, there were mini strawberry shortcakes, hummus, champagne with frozen grapes, goat cheese stuffed apricots…the list goes on
Usually I’m not game for wedding traditions (at least ones that cost other people a lot of time, energy and money). But I really loved and appreciated this day, and highly recommend you do this (or have this done) if you’re a bride. It’s just such a…beautiful day, especially when someone you know so well throws it. I really loved it.
